The east China port of Lianyungang is to start a new shipping service to Pyongtaek, Korea on November 11, Xinhua reports.
The new line uses 200-TEU ships and offers two services a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. In addition to the Lianyungang-Incheon service, the port now offers four or five weekly shipping services to Korea.
The port is expected to become one a 100-million tonne port in China by handling 127 million tons of cargo in 2007, a port official said.
The official expected that the port would handle 200 million tons in 2010 and become one of the hub ports in northeast Asia.
