MSC entering Europe/West Coast South America trade

5/20/2008 9:30:00 AM

Mediterranean Shipping Co. is about to join the Europe/West Coast South America trade with a direct weekly service connecting the Port of Antwerp in Belgium with ports in Chile.

The Swiss carrier has served the trade via its transshipment hub at Freeport in the Bahamas.

Details of the direct service are sketchy but MSC (Chile) said it will commence with the voyage of the 2,714-TEU MSC Davos (780A).

The service will have a port rotation of Antwerp, Freeport, Cartagena, Valparaiso, San Vicente and back to Europe. The transit time from Antwerp to Valaparaiso will be 23 days.
