UAE-based Emirates intends to add capacity by flying its Airbus A380 to Toronto, Canada this northern summer, replacing B777 services, as it lobbies for additional frequencies to the country.
The airline says it is experiencing strong demand for its Dubai-Toronto service and its regional competitor Etihad Airways also says it wants additional flights to Canada, which are capped at three a week each under Ottawa's bilateral agreement with UAE.
Canadian carriers are opposing the two carriers, saying there isn’t enough demand on the routes.
