The Thai Cabinet has acknowledged the Airports of Thailand's plans to utilise Bangkok's old Don Muang airport, according to Transport Minister Sopon Zarum, Dow Jones reported.
According to plans proposed by airport operators, Don Muang will be used to develop private jet and air-taxi terminals, aircraft maintenance facilities, an aircraft spare parts warehouse and a service centre, an aviation training centre and an international free-trade zone, Sopon said.
He said private firms are keen to participate in these projects.
Don Muang currently serves a handful of budget carriers to help ease traffic congestion at Bangkok's new Suvarnabhumi airport.
