Vietnam Airlines sale on hold

7/30/2008 10:08:54 AM

The sale to foreign investors of between 10 per cent and 20 per cent of Vietnam’s Vietnam Airlines is now unlikely to happen before 2009 and if the Vietnamese economy continues its decline, it could be postponed even longer.

Plans for the airline to fly to the United States also are thought to be in jeopardy after the group reported a first-half loss of US$5 million.

The privatisation was planned to involve a percentage of the Vietnamese government's stake being sold to three or four strategic investors from overseas.
