British Airways (BA), AMR Corporations’ American Airlines and Spain's Iberia have agreed to a transatlantic tie-up, to cope with what is becoming an increasingly competitive and difficult market, Reuters reported.
American, BA and Iberia will cooperate on flights between the United States, Mexico and Canada and the European Union, Norway and Switzerland.
The agreement includes deals on revenue sharing, as well as pricing and schedule co-ordination.
BA’s chief executive Willie Walsh stated that the cooperation from the three airlines would allow them to better compete with rivals airlines from Star Alliance and SkyTeam.
BA, American and Iberia are members of the oneworld alliance.
