Finance crisis will hit airlines

9/22/2008 10:14:49 AM

The global financial crisis will impact financing for new aircraft, restrict fuel hedging and affect business travel, an airline official has said. Jean Christoph Debus, managing director of holiday airline Condor, majority owned by tour company Thomas Cook, said he expected to see rising credit costs for new planes, while hedging against fuel prices would become increasingly difficult as a result of the crisis.

Others say business travel will fall off, particularly at major financial centres.
