Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways may delay construction of its HK$4.8 billion air cargo terminal in Hong Kong.
"Cathay Pacific has made it clear that in the face of the global economic downturn it is considering a number of options to ensure that it maintains a strong balance sheet," said Cathay Pacific spokeswoman Carolyn Leung.
"The timing of all capital expenditure is therefore under scrutiny."
The airline now is in talks with the city's airport authority over the timing of the construction of the terminal, but remains “fully committed to building and operating it.”
The airline originally intended the terminal to start operations in the second half of 2011.
