Air Berlin: New destinations in the summer

3/13/2009 8:40:53 AM

Air Berlin, Germany’s second largest airline, is expanding its route network. The three new destinations incorporated in the winter timetable 2008/09, Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Ciudad Real – La Mancha in Central Spain, and Cyprus, will be joined by six further additions: the Channel Island of Jersey, Krakow in Poland, the Norwegian capital Oslo, Rijeka and Split in Croatia, and Venice, the lagoon city.

Starting in May, there will be non-stop flights from Düsseldorf to Jersey and Venice. The weekly flights to Jersey will be available on Tuesdays, while flights to Venice will actually operate once a day, from Monday to Sunday. When the new summer timetable comes into effect, Air Berlin will be flying to Oslo and to Krakow, the second largest city in Poland, for the first time. There will be non-stop flights from Berlin-Tegel to both cities. Two other new Air Berlin destinations in Eastern Europe, the Croatian coastal resorts of Rijeka and Split, can be reached from Nuremberg in a Bombardier Q400.

Air Berlin will also be offering several new routes in the summer. There will be a daily non-stop service from Düsseldorf to St. Petersburg. Flights from Hanover to Stockholm and from Stuttgart to Nice are also new. Furthermore, Air Berlin will be reintroducing the daily non-stop flight from Amsterdam to Palma de Mallorca to its schedule. Passengers from Switzerland can enjoy two new non-stop connections. This year Air Berlin will be taking off for Rimini from Basel-Mulhouse for the first time, and there will also be one flight a week from Zurich to Jerez de la Frontera in Southern Spain.
