NYK SHIPMANAGEMENT Pte. Ltd. (NYKSM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the NYK transport group recently opened the NYK Shipmanagement Training Centre in Singapore.
The centre is equipped with state-of-the-art simulators for training on particular ships and equipment. About 400 senior officers from around the world will be trained at this centre each year, a company statement said.
The goal is to train current and future officers and engineers to serve on board NYK managed and manned vessels as part of a programme to expand the fleet to 930 vessels by 2010.
The Japanese carrier also sponsors the training of cadets in China, Croatia, India, Indonesia, the Philippines, Romania and Russia in conjunction with education and training provided by national maritime academies in these countries.
NYK Shipmanagement has branch and liaison offices in Tokyo, Hamburg, London, Split, Constanta, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai and New Delhi.
