A corridor of logistics power

10/18/2010 10:21:44 AM

The Dubai Logistics Corridor was officially inaugurated by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Aviation City Corporation.

The Dubai Logistics Corridor incorporates sea, land and air transport, and spreads over approximately 200sq km, aiming to ease the flow of shipments between sea and air ports.

The corridor connects Jebel Ali Port, the Jebel Ali Free Zone – home to 6,500 companies – and Dubai World Central-Al Maktoum International Airport.

Salma Hareb, Head of Dubai Logistics Corridor, said: “There will be a potential elimination of double customs inspection.”

The corridor is projected to quadruple Dubai’s logistics efficiency and its capability to move goods across the region by the reduction of sea-air transfer time to less than an hour from the current four hours.
