DB SCHENKER Logistics has announced it has started sending its European land transport consignments to Russia via Berlin, Krakow, Riga and Helsinki.
These new gateways are closely linked with the rest of the company's European network and its hubs and allow additional transports to St Petersburg and Moscow to be carried out.
"The new structure is part of our sales campaign which emphasises our special focus on Russia, the CIS states and the Baltic," said Karl Nutzinger, member of the board of management of Schenker AG responsible for Land Transport.
The new services being offered for Eastern Europe also include solutions that are environmentally friendly, such as short sea shipping and intermodal transport via Riga, where the company has a transshipment terminal to connect to Russian broad gauge.
The company offers regular train connections from Duisburg to Moscow through its joint venture, Trans Eurasia Logistics (TEL).
