German ocean shipping company Hamburg Sud will launch a direct liner service between North America, Central America and South America on Jan. 1, replacing the current Cartagena-California service.
The shipping line will deploy five 1,850 20-foot-equivalent unit vessels, including reefer plugs.
The rotation will include Guayaquil, Ecuador; Balboa, Panama; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; Los Angeles; Oakland, Calif.; Manzanillo, Mexico; and Paita, Peru.
The first sailings will be from Guayaquil on Jan. 4, 2013, and from Los Angeles on Jan. 20, 2013, with the Cap Palliser vessel.
