The liner carrier Hapag-Lloyd said it plans to raise eastbound transpacific rates by $400 per 40-foot container to the U.S. West Coast and $600 per FEU to the East Coast starting Sept. 1.
The announcement comes a week after competitor Maersk Line announced rate increases for the same date at the same level.
Hapag-Lloyd’s increases in full are:
- To U.S. West Coast port locations, Vancouver and British Columbia province, $320 per 20-foot container, $400 per 40-foot container, $450 per 40-foot high cube container, and $506 per 45-foot high cube container.
- To U.S. East Coast port locations and U.S. IPI and RIPI locations, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax all-water and all other Canada inland points, $480 per 20-foot container, $600 per 40-foot container, $675 per 40-foot high cube container, and $760 per 45-foot high cube container.
The increases apply to all dry, refrigerated, flat rack and open-top containers from the Far East and Indian Subcontinent.
