It will be the week of the dog at Stockholm-Arlanda. Between 500 and 1,500 dogs are expected to pass through the airport in conjunction with the World Dog Show 2008. More than 20,000 dogs from 57 countries are registered as participants. The airport has engaged the services of dog greeters and built special dog toilets featuring real lawns.
The World Dog Show 2008 at Stockholm International Fairs starts on Thursday, and a majority of the dogs are expected to arrive on Tuesday and Wednesday. The airport has prepared for this onslaught by engaging dog greeters to show the way to the dog toilets, water bowls and other amenities that may be needed after a long flight. Swedish Customs and the airport’s veterinarian have also expanded their staffing.
