UAE-based Emirates Skycargo says it hopes Asian countries, especially China, India and the Middle East will help counter the slowdown experienced in other regions.
"The move by China to step up export rebates clearly signifies the importance of governments coming in to help reverse a sliding trend in exports," said Emirates Cargo senior vice-president Ram Menen.
The Asian cargo market has remained strong due to movements within Asia, more especially between the Indian subcontinent and southeast Asia.
The large populations in Asia and the rising number of middle class also help to keep demand steady.
Emirates Skycargo plans to increase its cargo capacity from India focusing on pharmaceuticals, vaccines, garments, chemicals, meat, fruits and vegetables for the Middle East, Africa, Europe and America.
Current Emirates cargo capacity from Mumbai is 572 tonnes, which will be increased to 641 tonnes while cargo capacity from Delhi will be increased to 389 tonnes from the present 306 tonnes every week.
