British Airways World Cargo has launched a new Boeing 767-200 weekly freighter service between Bogota, Colombia and Bridgetown, Barbados.
Operated by Intercargo Logistics Corp., the flight coincides with the opening of a new $600,000 cooling facility in Barbados. The 4,500-square-foot facility, managed by Airport Refrigeration, is located airside with immediate ramp access.
“We can now ship perishables from destinations across Latin America and the Caribbean to Barbados, and then transfer them to BA World Cargo flights connecting to Europe and other mainline destinations, without breaking the cool chain,” said Rodrigo Casal, the airline’s area sales manager for Latin America, the Caribbean and Florida, in a statement. “We expect to receive a lot of fresh flower traffic from Colombia in particular.”
