A European airline head has voiced criticism of the UK government’s decision to okay a third runway at London Heathrow airport.
Budget carrier Monarch Airlines’ managing director Tim Jeans said the already-controversial decision could lead the public to think airlines are only interested in growing their own businesses.
He said the industry would eventually regret the decision to grant the GBP9 billion expansion plan. Jeans said expansion would have been preferable at Gatwick airport and said more also could have been made of the high-speed rail network - to connect Scotland, UK’s north and Europe - to the airport.
