Chinese airlines will respect signed contracts for aircraft orders, but negotiate timing of deliveries and some carriers may choose smaller cargo aircraft instead of bigger ones to cope with a downturn in cargo traffic, the head of the Civil Aviation Administration of China said.
"We will respect all contracts," Li Jiaxiang, CAAC's director general said, adding that airlines themselves must decide whether to adjust their airplane orders.
"They will negotiate directly with suppliers," Li said.
