Delta Air Lines Opens Office in Vietnam to Support New Service Between Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo

Ho Chi Minh City, April 10, 2009 - Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) announced it has established an office in Vietnam in preparation for the launch of its new daily nonstop service between Ho Chi Minh City and Tokyo, Japan..   The office is located in District 1 of Ho Chi Minh City, the premier business center of  Vietnam, and will house reservations, the city ticket (CTO) and sales.    “Establishing an office in Vietnam demonstrates Delta’s ongoing commitment to the Asia market,and it will enable us to better provide first-hand service to originating passengers connecting through Tokyo to the U.S.,” said Brian Swain, Delta Air Lines’ managing director in Asia,.   Effective June 1, 2009, Delta will begin daily nonstop service between Ho Chi Minh City and its hub at Tokyo, Japan, where passengers will be able to make easy connections to and from nine U.S. gateways, including Los Angeles, Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco. This flight will be operated by Northwest Airlines, using a 160-seat Boeing 757-200 with 16 seats in World Business Class and 144 seats in Economy.        Currently, Delta and Northwest operate several non-stop flights in Asia, including from Tokyo to Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.   Starting in June, Delta will add flights from Tokyo to New York City and Salt Lake City.   Delta Air Lines is the world’s largest airline.  From its hubs in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Memphis, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New York-JFK, Salt Lake City and Tokyo-Narita, Delta, its Northwest subsidiary and Delta Connection carriers offer service to 379 destinations in 66 countries and serve more than 170 million passengers each year.  Delta’s marketing alliances allow customers to earn and redeem either SkyMiles or WorldPerks on more than 16,000 daily flights offered by SkyTeam and other partners.
