NOL's volumes rise in May as freight rates strengthen

6/28/2008 9:46:46 AM

Singapore's Neptune Orient Line (NOL) says its container shipping volume for the four-week period from May 3-30 amounted to 201,700 FEU, a year-on-year increase of 13 per cent.

During the reporting period, average revenue per FEU rose by 15 per cent year on year to US$3,023. The company said in a statement that this was mainly due to higher volumes and gross freight rates in the major trade lanes.

Year to date, NOL's container volume was up 14 per cent over the same period in 2007 to 1,067,600 FEU. YTD average revenue per FEU showed a 15 per cent improvement against the previous year to $2,952 per FEU.
