Cathay to cut long-haul flights after interim loss

8/13/2008 10:06:44 AM

Cathay Pacific Airways plans to cut 10 weekly flights to North America and redeploy aircraft on shorter routes to Australia and Europe, Dow Jones reported.

High fuel prices were cited as the reasons for recent cuts, which are in addition to already announced plans to reduce seven weekly flights to Canada.

The company stated fuel prices are hurting long-haul routes the most.

Cathay Pacific last week reported its first interim net loss of US$85 million since the SARS crisis in 2003.
