Taiwanese airlines have announced that they will expand direct services to three more Chinese cities starting mid-December amid closer economic ties between the two sides, Dow Jones reported.
China Airlines and its unit Mandarin Airlines will offer four and two flights weekly to the southeastern Chinese cities of Shenzhen and Hangzhou, respectively, the companies said.
Its rival EVA Airways and its subsidiary UNI Airways will operate five and four flights per week to Shenzhen and Hangzhou, respectively, while TransAsia Airways will fly to Dalien in northeast China.
The airlines will also increase the number of flights to Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou and Nanjing.
Taiwan and China agreed last month to triple direct flights to 108 per week and expand services to 21 Chinese cities, following deals in June to begin weekend fights.
