Kuehne+Nagel has announced its strategic development plans for Russia, including the expansion of its warehouse space across the country to more than 300,000 m2 over the next three years.
Kuehne+Nagel entered the Russian market in 1992, and currently has 70,000 m2 of warehouse space under management at six sites in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don.
By end-2007, new facilities are scheduled to go into operation in St. Petersburg, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Samara and Vladivostok.
Earlier this year, the company relocated the regional HQ for its North-East Europe region from Warsaw to Moscow. This region comprises Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Ukraine.
Clemens Abt, national manager for Russia and responsible for the company’s North-East Europe region, commented: “With investments in facilities, technology and staff, we are developing high quality logistics operations in the country’s key consumer markets.”
He said that Kuehne+Nagel’s medium-term objective is to position itself as one of the country’s leading contract logistics providers.
