Sea Star Line said it plans to increase its bunker fuel surcharges for Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and the Eastern Caribbean effective Jan. 20.
For Puerto Rico, the charge will increase to $470 (from $455) for 20-foot containers, $520 (from $505) for 40- and 45-foot containers, and $570 (from $555) for 48- and 53-foot containers moving from Jacksonville and Port Everglades. From Houston, the charge will increase to $590 (from $545) for 40- and 45-foot containers. From Port Elizabeth, N.J., the charge will increase to $570 (from $545).
For the U.S. Virgin Islands, the charge will increase to $510 (from $495) for 20-foot containers, to $560 (from $545) for 40- and 45-foot containers, and to $610 (from $595) for 48- and 53-foot containers moving from Jacksonville and Port Everglades. From Houston, the charge will increase to $630 (from $585). From Port Elizabeth, the charge will increase to $610 (from $585).
For the Eastern Caribbean, the Florida ports charge will increase to $510 (from $495) for 20-foot containers, $560 (from $545) for 40- and 45-foot containers, and $610 (from $595) for 48- and 53-foot containers. For Houston, the charge increases to $630 (from $585) for 40- and 45-foot containers. For Port Elizabeth, the charge increases to $610 (from $585).
