Qantas cuts numbers

11/26/2008 10:24:50 AM

Qantas has detailed new capacity cuts equal to around 10 aircraft in addition to reductions announced earlier this year.

It also will not lease two A330-200 aircraft as planned and will reschedule flying patterns of existing aircraft "to free up the equivalent of six B747-400s, three B767-300s and one A320-200 aircraft between now and mid-2010".

The net effect will be four per cent capacity below the equivalent period in 2008 and Qantas now expects a pre-tax profit for 2008-09 of around A$500 million.
