SAS reveals cost cutting plans

1/17/2009 10:11:08 AM

Scandinavian airline operator SAS has reached an agreement with trade unions that will see its staff costs cut by around US$183 million a year.

About one third of the cost cuts will come from lower salaries, while two thirds are linked to fewer working hours, daily expenses, pensions and insurance.

Pilots, the chief executive and other members of group management will lose any salary increases in 2009 while some salaries will be reduced by six per cent, the company said.
