Marseille port to slash charges

12/19/2007 10:24:46 AM

Marseille will reduce port dues in 2008 to help attract a high volume of container traffic.

Containerships over 3,000 TEUs will see a five percent reduction in dues and further savings will be available to lines based on growth in box throughput.

The port has also launched an all-inclusive rate per ship for future short sea services to encourage a modal shift as part of the EU's Motorways of the Sea project. Overall, port dues are set to rise by an average of 1.1 percent.
