London's mayor Boris Johnson has called for a new airport to be built at the east of the city to ease congestion at the other five that serve the capital, Reuters reported.
Johnson doubted that a proposed third runway for Heathrow, the world's busiest airport, would ever be built. He also stated that London's second busiest, Gatwick, was also nearing capacity.
Johnson said he also favours expansion at east London's City Airport, favoured by business travellers, due to its proximity to financial districts.
