Following completion of the successful interim solution realised in co-operation with DHL, Lufthansa Cargo is initiating the next stage of development of its airfreight handling at Leipzig/Halle Airport.
Coinciding with the launch of operations of the new cargo carrier AeroLogic in spring 2009, Lufthansa Cargo will shift its cargo handling activities into the World Cargo Centre.
Thereafter, PortGround - a subsidiary of Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding - will assume responsibility for Lufthansa Cargo's handling services at Leipzig/Halle Airport.
Lufthansa Cargo's move into the World Cargo Centre marks an important step in the expansion of Leipzig as an air cargo base. Should dynamic market growth be sustained, Lufthansa Cargo's plans include the building of its own terminal at the airport.
