Lufthansa German Airlines is bucking market trends by going ahead with plans to expand its capacity in the Gulf by adding more flights between the UAE and Frankfurt.
At a press conference in Dubai, Lufthansa officials announced it will operate six non-stop flights a week between Abu Dhabi and Frankfurt, starting from October 26.
The airline will also introduce a second daily flight between Dubai and Frankfurt effective from November 1.
Meanwhile, Lufthansa will further cut its fuel surcharge from October 27, a person familiar with the matter told Dow Jones.
Lufthansa Cargo confirmed that it will reduce the surcharge due to declining crude oil prices.
Lufthansa Cargo will lower its fuel surcharge to US$1.35 per kilogram from $1.41 a kilogram.
