Foreign-owned airlines in the USA topped the agenda when EU-US open skies talks resumed in Washington DC (USA) recently. The negotiations aimed at securing stage two of the current agreement also covered cabotage (the right of foreign airlines to operate domestic services in the USA). This was the latest round of the stage two talks which began in May. Stage one of the EU-US agreement, which basically opened up European airports, including London Heathrow, to US carriers, came into force in March.
