Australia’s low fares airline Jetstar has announced it will adjust pricing across its domestic network on 1 January 2009 including the removal of the fuel surcharge on domestic services in response to lower oil and jet fuel prices.
Today’s announcement of the domestic fuel surcharge removal comes a week after Jetstar announced reductions to long haul international fuel surcharges from $98 to $68, short haul Asian fuel surcharge from $55 to $35 and on trans Tasman from $45 to $25.
Jetstar Group General Manager Commercial David Koczkar said the airline’s all inclusive fares would continue to present the most consistent lowest price position in the markets it served.
“We continue to monitor oil and jet fuel prices closely with fuel surcharges on international services remaining under review.
“Regardless of the market condition, our approach to travelers has always been to strive to offer the lowest all inclusive fares possible in the market on every route we service both in Australia and internationally and this position does not change.
“This year, we have witnessed unprecedented volatility in oil and fuel prices. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will revise our surcharges accordingly, maintaining always our commitment to offer our lowest all inclusive fares possible on the markets we serve,” Mr Koczkar said.
