Emirates Airline is expanding its cargo capacity between the Middle East and Southeast Asia by 17 percent.
The Dubai-based carrier is boosting passenger flights to Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta in expectation of healthy economic growth in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Emirates said in a statement it was expanding its current daily service to 10 flights a week.
The three additional flights will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, and will introduce over 1,200 passenger seats and approximately 50 tonnes of belly cargo capacity per week each way.
The extra cargo capacity will advance Indonesian exports of garments, leather, shoes and tropical fish to Europe, North America, Africa, Middle East and the Indian sub-continent.
Emirates will add two flights to its existing 12 flights-a-week service between the UAE and Kuala Lumpur, bringing the total to 14 flights a week.
The UAE is one of Malaysia’s top trading partners. The country’s total trade with the UAE in 2008 amounted to US$4.5 billion – an increase of 45.7 percent over the previous year.
