OOCL will launch two new services from Asia to the U.S. West Coast this spring that it says will enhance the Grand Alliance service and replace one existing loop.
The Hong Kong-based carrier, part of the Grand Alliance with NYK Line and Hapag-Lloyd, said it would launch the South China Sea Middle East Express Service (SCX) and Japan Express Service (JPX) as a replacement for the current South China Sea Japan Express service.
As of April 22, the SCX will be operated with 11 vessels of 6,200 20-foot equivalent unit capacity to expand coverage between the Middle East, the Far East and the U.S. West Coast with the following port rotation: Port Kelang, Singapore, Laem Chabeng, Yantian, Los Angeles, Oakland, Pusan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Singapore, Colombo, Jebel Ali, Dammam and back to Port Kelang.
Starting May 9, the JPX between Japan and the U.S. West Coast will operate with five 2,800-TEU vessels calling at ports in the following rotation: Kobe, Nagoya, Tokyo, Sendai, Long Beach, Oakland, Tokyo, Nagoya and back to Kobe.
