A new 55,000 sqm airfreight handling hall is being planned adjacent to the airport perimeter in Hamburg (Germany). It has been designed for airfreight flown directly to and from Hamburg. Truck feeder services will be deployed from existing facilities outside the airport, such as the Garbe Worldcargo Center. The new building, which is scheduled to be completed within three years, will replace the existing freight depot. The area freed up by latter will be used to establish new passenger terminals, which will also include shopping precincts.
