Aer Lingus faces strike action

11/11/2008 10:18:35 AM

Aer Lingus employees have voted to strike over the Irish airline's plan to cut more than 1,500 jobs, the Services Industrial Professional Technical Union (Siptu) says.

About 80 per cent of those who voted were in favour of strike action.

Aer Lingus plans to cut jobs, outsource ground positions and block pay rises until at least the end of 2009 as part of a plan to save EUR74 million.
