Qantas and Air New Zealand are among carriers affected by yet another delay to the production of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The manufacturer now says the first Dreamliner flight won’t take place till next year and it has blamed the latest delay on a 58-day machinists’ strike plus problems with the installation of fasteners that help hold the aircraft together.
The 787 launch was originally planned for summer 2007 and has already been delayed four times due to problems with suppliers and parts shortages.
