Ukraine International Airlines takes delivery of 737-300SF

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) has received its first Boeing 737-300SF (Special Freighter) that will provide additional capacity between Ukraine's capital Kiev and Vienna in Austria.   The modified passenger-to-freighter aircraft was previously used by Kitty Hawk and has been leased under a five-year term by UIA from GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS). The plane has a cargo capacity of 16 tons and 127 cubic meters and will initially operate three flights a week every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, increasing to five flights a week in early August with the launch of Tuesday and Thursday services. The airline plans to lease another of the same type freighter in early 2009 to meet demand.   American Shipper
